The Holiday Skincare Picks

I am currently writing this post in a lovely quaint cottage in Dartmoor. When packing, deciding what products to bring with me to use on my face really wasn't a difficult one, as recently I know exactly what has been working on my skin. The winter months are fast approaching and now the products which I know will keep my skin hydrated are part of the routine.

I start off by taking all of my make up off with my Bioderma (only in the evening) and follow straight after with the amazing Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm (which I purchased last week and have absolutely no regrets about doing so - full review to come!) by applying a pea sized amount with a little water on the palm of my hands to emulsify the balm and then I gently massage it in circular motions with the tips of my fingers. I then take it off with a damp flannel. After that I will spray some 02er Institut toner (I got this in a pharmacy in Paris hence the French name) which is refreshing and helps balance the skin after cleansing. Then I will take a small amount of Hydraluron as my prep for moisturiser and gently rub in to my skin (the feeling this gives isn't particularly pleasant but it really does make your moisturiser do the job m uch better). Finally, I will take a generous dollop of the Origins Make a Difference Plus+ moisturiser and massage into the skin.

I have been using this routine day and night and my skin feels better than ever, blemish-free and soft. This will be my staple routine throughout the A/W months, however I may chop and change with a gel cleanser with use of my Clarisonic about twice a week to exfoliate.

Hydraluron - The Review

Hydraluron. Arguably one of the most talked about serums in the beauty world. You may ask, why? This serum claims to "increase skin hydration from below the surface with an ultra-high-quality hyaluronic acid that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water". After hearing so much about it, I then found myself in Boots with the bright pink box staring back at me. To be honest, I purchased this purely out of curiosity to see whether it would actually work like it has done for so many other people, and actually make a difference combating my awfully dehydrated skin (especially on my cheeks).

After one use of this transparent, gel-like serum, I noticed a difference in my skin. I woke up in the morning with smooth, radiant, plump, glowy skin. Not only had it moisturised, but had also reduced the few pesky blemishes I had around my chin significantly. Now after using this product for three days, I can safely say this product has just made my skin better and better. It is now blemish free and feels smoother than ever before.

Hydraluron retails for £24.99 and is available in most Boots stores. Boots are always having "3 for 2 Mix and Match" or "save a 1/3" offers on so do look out for those to save you some money. I think everyone should own this product, whatever age. It just works. If you're thinking of buying it, just do it. Especially if you have dry (and/or) dehydrated skin, it will change your life. Seriously.
